I like Aya. I had the wrong first impression of him; I could tell he was bitter, but I thought he was a pussy. I saw him in action and he's not a pussy, he's a prick! He's cold, he's mean, he doesn't talk much, he makes girls cry, he spies on people and he stares a lot. I love! He's a perfect match for my sister Munchy, they could literally just sit and stare evilly at each other all day. However, Aya's personality is shaped by soul-shattering tragedy, which makes him into a very sympathetic character. When Sakura confesses that she loves him, he tells her that he feels nothing for her. At first one might think: "What a prick!" but then he tells her "I don't deserve to be loved" and things start making sense. He doesn't want pity, he just believes what he says. He's neither death nor the devil; just a murderer.
It's not something he's proud of. He kills for necessity, to pay his sister's hospital bills, and he kills for revenge. It doesn't become a righteous act to him until late in the series, when Botan convinces him that what he does with Weiß is important. It's not just about killing people, it's about saving the innocent ones. Too bad Botan had to die for Aya to realize that.

Aya (pronounced EYE-uh) took this name from his little sister, who was hit by a car on her 16th birthday. Born Ran Fujimiya, Aya is a lovely red-haired, purple-eyed young man with a tragic past. He's sympathetic without being pathetic, and although he's cold on the surface he still cares a lot about his friends and his little sister. What a guy! He's got a deep, suave, sexy voice that nicely compliments his glowering stares. And when he smiles? Oh, happy day!!

What a sad and tragic man, still strong and beautiful. Like his flower the rose, he has thorns, and might hurt those who try to appreciate him.
*coughchokegag*
I love it when Aya shows those rare moments of emotion. Or, sort of emotion... as much emotion as Aya can manage, anyway. I, personally, love sexy vulnerable yet strong men in emotional pain (or physical pain, whichever!) and can't help but love Aya. I also couldn't help but notice, seeing that I am in a perverted frame of mind nearly every second of the day, the bondage scene in the opening segment of the first 16 episodes.
Now, this scene is kinda subtle... we don't see any suspension cuffs or leather door straps, but really now... what the hell else could he be doing?!?
This isn't the best bondage picture but it still nicely illustrates the point. His arms are raised above his head in a suggestive manner, and he's obviously at least naked from the waist up. Judging by the painful expressions on his face during this scene, I'd bet five bucks he's naked from the waist down, too.
